PALACE OF FUN is a good Ripley homage.

PALACE OF FUN in an interesting homage to THE TALENTED MR.RIPLEY, as a brother and sister connect with a drifter who changes their lives. The film is intriguing with plenty of water imagery, long camera shots, beautiful scenery, and scenes where dialogue is tacit. Your most significant clue to the surprise ending might be the search of a laptop's history, including porn sites, and a search for Patricia Highsmith.

In PALACE, George Stocks is credited as co-screenwriter and stars as the devious brother Jamie. Andre Mullan is the sexy drifter Finn, on whom both siblings crush. Phoebe Naughton is the sister, and all three deliver compelling performances. But they don't have the high voltage star power of Matt Damon, Jude Law, and Gwyneth Paltrow in similar roles in Ripley

Eadward Stocks is the co-screenwriter and director, and the film has panache, if not the drive and pace, to rise it to the level of a compelling watch. It doesn’t have the high voltage performances of Matt Damon, Jude Law, and Gwyneth Paltrow.

It is an excellent complement for one filmmaker to pay tribute to another’s work. But you may want to watch PALACE OF FUN for a bit and then head back to the classic thriller.

PALACE OF FUN is on Dekkoo or Amazon.
